Bridal Bustier

 
After meeting with my team the other night I just had to take on their challenge of turning the Petal Cone Die into a naughty but nice Bridal Bustier.  Could it also be a valentine gift holder? Hmmm... I think so! 

 
 

A little embossed vellum, satin ribbon and clear embossing help to lend some elegance to this little bustier.  Designed to stand instead it could be adapted to be a table place setting with the name of your guest on it. 

 

I made this box one inch wide but this could easily be adjusted to suit the size of your gift. 

 

This shot shows the clear embossing which wasn't noticable in the other shots.

Tripple Embossed Vellum

I've really been enjoying the fall leaves on my morning walks my little West-Highland "White" terrier, Casper.  Fianlly I remembered to bring my camera along and take a few shots.  

Here's a few leaves we enjoyed last week and a card they inspired me to create.

 
Oak leaves in bravo burgundy, rose red, yellow and various oranges.

 
  
A few remaining beautiful Maple leaves.

I'm afraid my creation doesn't rival these but I did try. 

 
Yup, three times embossed - check it out below:

This oak leaf is stamped in craft brown on vellum, dusted in clear embossing powder, and heated.  Afterward I used markers to colour the vellum and followed up with clear ep and heated again.  Because the ink isn't absorbed by vellum it's possible to emboss after using markers!!!  At this point you can cut the leaf out.  There will be a white edge around the outside of the image.  To remove this edge I finally used craft spots (old olive, rose red and more mustard) to colour the edges and embossed again with clear ep.  In real life, because I popped this up on a large glue dot, the light shines through it eluminates the colours.  Not so visable in this photograph.

Needed:  Cardstock: cajun craze, more mustard (though it doesn't look like it in this photo) I also used a piece of designer paper for the center square.   Stamp set:  Autumn Splender #116503 and Sanded #109294 Ink: Craft - chocolate chip, old olive, rose red and more mustard  Markers: bravo burgundy, daffodil delight, pumpkin pie

Thankful For...

As part of a large, extended, family I am lucky enough to always be able to hold a fresh faced baby and enjoy the advice and experience of those who are a step ahead of me in our journey.  I'm so thankful that Mom and Dad raised us to treasure and look after each other and that we still gather together at each season and holiday.  The photos on this page are from our Canadian Thanksgiving celebration this year and as you can see a terrific time was had by all.  As usual there was a centerpiece competition and the team effort that we enjoyed the most was the one that had to be on a table outside.  Fireworks and flags was their fall theme???

Who won the competition?, you ask.   Why all of us, of course!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American Friends.  The rest of us - just enjoy the fact that we don't have any white stuff on the ground yet and get your Christmas lights up, will ya!

NOTE: While We've been away visiting our grandon and family I put my posts on auto delivery but It seems there's been a glitch in this process.  Of I planned this article for the American Thanksgiving weekend.  Hopefully I've fixed the trouble and posts will more timely in the future. 

Road Trip .... Memories of PEI

Here's my second take on this week's layout.  I love the visual images - they grab you and create a quick montage of your trip.  Easy to produce, this layout is going to get revised for a landscape layout.... I see it now.

 

Sorry about the quality of this photograph but it was not taken in natural light...and so the colours are not too true.  BUT don't you just love the embossed vellum title. 

MY TITLE:  Yes, there is a silver cast to the bottom of each letter.  It's not glare but a double embossing technique.  I first stamped on vellum with black craft ink then coated the top of the letters  with clear ep, shook off the extra and then coated the bottom of the letters with silver ep. Finally, I heat embossed and taa-daa!  Black/Silver letters.    I mounted the vellum on an undersized sliver of Bordering blue cardstock with mini glue dots (mostly under the black letters) and then mounted that again to some Night of Navy card stock.

My journalling on cardstock vellum is in Nearly Navy Stampin' Up! ink colour using the program Microsoft Word.  I enjoy journalling this way.  It's fast and really finishes off the page.  Note:  I am currently using a lazer jet printer and the ink comes out dry.  If you have an ink jet printer you will have to be careful handling your vellum until the ink dries.  (BUT - - - Did you know you can emboss your text on vellum if you have an ink jet printer?  No? Well you can and I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this and really miss my ink jet printer when I think about it.

I've attached my journalling with silver brads but you can also use mini glue dots, snail or glue stick.  All forms of glue show just a bit unless you fold the edges and add the glue to the underside.  I only do this trick for wedding cards when I must otherwise, brads or eyelets are perfect.

Stamp set "Always".  I stamped a tiny flower in boardering blue and popped it out with a 1/2 incle circle punch and put the silver brads through the center to attach the vellum.

Amazing Arizona... Journaling on Vellum

Finally I've had time to scrap our last family holiday to Arizona.  No spot on earth has left such a mark on us all.  Beautiful, magificant, magestic and Hot, Hot, Hot!  We loved it.  Hope you like my first page of this album.

I used Microsoft Word to select the font colour to print on this vellum.  I find that printing my journaling means that it's done as soon as my page is created and I don't leave a page waiting to be completed later.  You can find the RGB codes for Stampin' Up! colours on my Colour link at the left hand side of my blog. 

I took this same layout to begin scrapping my ROAD TRIP this summer.  Check back to see how I changed that page and how I made use of the vellum.

Very Glittery Vellum

As promised, I'm catching up on posting my recent classes and creations.  Below are two more vellum cards that my Technique Club made this past Sunday.

 

What could say for "someone special" more than glitter?  This card was inspired by one designed by Andrea Walford.  These Flowers were stamped in black Stazon Ink (101406 - $10.75) and then coloured with Rose Red and Reagal Rose markers before adding the Dazzling Diamonds with a Two-Way Glue Pen ( 100425  - $4.50 ).  Using Doodle This ( 114954 - $39.95 - page 88) and All Holidays ( 113488 - $41.95 - page 32 ) for the greeting.   The top flower is finished off with a " Circle Fire Crystal Brad" ( pg 174  # 109111 - $13.75) and then both flowers were mounted with Dimentionals to show off their translucent quality.   This card took a bit of time to complete but is a real eye catcher "in Person" and well worth the time spent. 

Our third and final Technique Club card:

 

This romantic card was stamped with a Sale-A-Bration stamp set "Polka Dot Punches " and embossed using Versa Mark and Gold Embossing Powder. ( 109129 - $5.75)   The Stamp-a-ma-jig ( 101049 - $14.95 page 189 ) made it easy to line up and space out the hearts.   After embossing the Cardstock Vellum, it was punched with the Eyelet Border Punch (113692 - $19.95 page 184) to create the lacy border.  The same thing was done to the Whisper White card front and then a piece of Baja Breeze was added to peek through it.   The hearts were coloured on the backside with a Blender Pen (102845 - $12.50 for 3) dipped in the ink from a Baja Breeze stamp pad (9111833 - $6.95 page 153).  Finally, the greeting was stamped with another Sale-A-Bration stamp set, "Congrats" in Baja Breeze.  The vellum was added to our card front with gold brads (104337 - $8.25 for 200).

Flutterbys of Love

Stamping on Vellum seems to really suit this image.  I love butterflies done in Vellum! This one is stamped in Versa Mark followed by Pink  Pirouette, coated with Heat and Stick, heated, then coated with Dazzling Diamonds.  It just sparkles!   

Stamp Set: Dreams du jour, Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White INK: Classic Close to Cocoa, and coloured with Watercolour Pencils and Blender Pens.  I used the piercing tool to pierce around the corners of both white pieces.  You can just see where I dry embossed the central image using a stylus and "Punches Plus" Classy Brass Template (page 191).

If you took part in our sampler you should be recieving yours bundle very soon.  Cynthia and I are just so excited about the beautiful ribbons and Designer Papers!  This weekend we cut and packaged all the new paper samples and the first order of ribbons for mail-out!   I can't wait to cut into my personal package and play!
