Peekaboo Club Designs

I love seeing how my scrap club ladies make our monthly scrap layout their own. Sometimes it's as simple as changing the title, sometimes it's reorienting the pages, sometimes it almost a complete overhaul.  Check these pages from our October crop day. 

I love how Christine rotated the left-hand page to scrap these precious photos of a special family reunion!

And Kim cropped these sweet photos of her daughter to 4"x4" making the layout more eye appealing and almost colour blocked!

I hope these alternate photo arrangements inspire you to give this layout a try.  I only managed to photos of two completed layouts this month but I'll be faster on the button next month so stay tuned.

Peekaboo Photos Scrap Page

As soon as I saw the Peekaboo Frame Big Shot die I had a vision of this page.  I couldn't wait 'till it arrived to try out my idea!  I wanted to use each frame as an interactive element in my scrap page so I could have more photos on one page. 

Each of the blue frames can be lifted to show another face underneath.  I love the way this page engages the viewer. (Yes, this page is inside a sleeve protector.)

 

This is actually the right-hand side of my layout but I created it first.  Have you ever done that?  I had some difficulty designing the left-hand page as I didn't want to just flip it.  I also had a limit on my designer paper that I already used in quite a few cards so below you'll see the two layouts I tried. 

This page makes use of one 8"x10" photos and ties it up totally.  But I also wanted to have options for my stampers club to use smaller photos so here's what my final page looks like.

 

As you can see our little grandson is very expressive and had so many funny faces on our walk to the beach that I giggled all the way there.  This happened to be the day he discovered that he could play with his feet and the week he began teething so he entertained not only himself but his Papa and I too.

Wedding Scrapbook layout or...

Last month my Scrap Club Ladies got to create and personalize this tone-on-tone layout.  Some used it as I did and some placed wedding photos on it.  Now, I wish I had taken some pictures of their completed pages. Perhaps when they come this month I'll ask them if they'll share their amazing layouts with you and you'll see how versatile this one really is!

I also shared my layout with other demonstrators and customers at a demo table this summer.  What fun it was to show how my journalling pops out of the little pocket above.  Just pull the lace tab and it's interactive though the plastic protective page.  (I'll give a little tutorial on that in a couple of weeks. Easy peasy.) 

The Left hand page still awaits either one 5x7 portrait sepia photo or a set of two 5"x3.5 photos.

Yes, we did use the Big Shot and textured Embossing Folder on this side!  (Vintage Wallpaper 120175) Texture provided by the folder and the felted Mocha Morning Designer paper really adds interest to this layout.

Travel Pages - Gridded landscape technique

I had such fun trying this technique in my own travel pages that I knew my scrap club ladies would love giving it a try too.  I'm happy to say I wasn't wrong.  They had fun trying it out for themselves.  All except for Tracy who only prints beautiful photos of her two baby boys, the loves of her life and even she made great use of the layout with the photos she brought!

 
PEI has so many beautiful locations but Rustico is just a gorgeous place to spend a day!  This page returns me to the location and the feeling of Restful Rustico.

 

Laura's Chicago Sites scrap.  By the way, if you have a young family, Laura recommends Chicago as a wonderful place to spend your holidays.  There's something for everyone - adults and kids!

Pennant Parade Again!

You may not believe I'm still playing with Pennant Parade but this set IS really fun to get creative with!  Check out how you can use it in a card or on a scrap page (other than as a banner). lol...

I was so excited to use the pennant parade stamp with the petite pennant punch to create this star shape for our new little star that I didn't embellish at all.  Oh well, Cayden is the embellishment.  lol I can't wait to use this same star motif in a scrap page celebrating his arrival.  If you have the scallop circle die #113468 then you can recreate this star just just by placing a pennant triangle after every 6th scallop.  EASY!  You've gotta love this idea!  Can you tell I do? lol

Here's another 4x4 tiny card designed for a shower.  You can see babies are on my mind these days.  Cardstock: bashful blue, so saffron, *Island Indigo (in colour)  The ribbon is 1/8 inch daffodile delight stuck onto toothpicks with a glue dot.  Both pennants are raised up from the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Pennant Parade Sneak Peek

Last month I bit the bullet and designed a scrap layout using a pennant title. (you can see it at the bottom of this page)  My customers loved it but all of us commented that it would be so much easier if Stampin' Up would create a punch. Well, guess what I was able to order in my demonstrator pre catalogue order?  Yup, a pennant punch!!!  I was so excited I could hardly wait for it to arrive at my door.  Bless those design people at Stampin' Up! who also created a wonderful stamp set "Pennant Parade" that coordinates with this amazing punch!

Here's some bits and pieces I stamped with Pennant Parade, in our new In Colours, and punched out with the pennant punch.

 

 
There are even more images in this little stamp set! You'll be inspired to create cards, scrap pages and party items galore.

Here's the first card I made using this set inspired by one by Fran Sabad which she shared on our Stampin' Up site.  It was so easy ladies...I had to giggle while I played! 

 

Details:

The letters I stamped using the retired set "Rough Edges" and punched out with the 1/2" circle punch.  Just for you is a greeting from "Teeny Tiny Wishes".  Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White & Cookie Crumble Ink: lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral & Island Indigo

I've got more ideas in my wee brain for this set.  Thinking... icecream cones, Christmas trees and tags.  Can't wait to get time in my room to stamp again to make them.

I can't wait to create another birthday banner layout!  My youngest will be 21 this month so I may get an opportunity very soon if she lets me take photos.  lol

Scrap Happening

I just returned from a wonderful scrap weekend with "the girls" and I can't think of a better break than scrapping with friends, old and new.  Thanks to Cynthia who shared her beautiful cottage with us we shared papers, ideas, stamps, ink and stories.  I can't wait for next year!

I'm the kind of person who plays around with the photos and elements until I'm happy.  It seems to take me a while to settle on everything so here's the two layouts I actually finished.

 

My trip to China was such an overwhelming experience I'm still scrapping it bit by bit.  Here's a sampling of my shots of transportation in Shanghai.  I couldn't get over how much got done by men on bikes.  Many, many day to day chores were completed by men and women on bikes.

 

It's hard to believe our Casper is already 10.  Since my youngest daughter likes to root through our photos and keep what she likes I thought I'd better pull together the shots I could still locate.  These were taken within the first few days that Casper joined our family.  What a sweetie. If you have a Westie you know those ears are only down like this for such a short while. 

Here's the final layout I'm sharing today which is one my Scrap Club completed this month. 

 
I finished this one off with photos of Kayla's 7th birthday party at Tunnels of Fun!  Which, considering how busy my Junes always are, was really tuns of fun for the kids and a busy, working Mom too.

Creating Wax Resist Designer Paper

This March Break our grandson, his 11 year old cousin, and our daughter-in-law were in town and most of our family fun revolved around them.  My March Scrap Club layout features some of our Spring Fling activities.  

 
Here's Aunty Kayla with her little nephew at the Museum of Science and Technology where he kept us all  busy running from one activity to the next.  It was a perfect place to take an 11 year old and a 3 year old.  There was something for everyone.

The cherry cobbler designer paper in this layout is created by crinkling wax paper, placing it between two 12"x2" pieces of very vanilla cardstock and heating it with an iron.  Of course you need to cover the cardstock with paper towel to soak up any extra wax.  Once heated, throw away the wax paper and brayer the very vanilla cardstock with ink.  In this case I used cherry cobbler. 

Here's another take on the above layout featuring our trip to a local sugarbush.

 
Both these layouts were done on sahara sand cardstock but for some reason this photo makes it look blue and I can't seem to get it any closer to the correct colour.  After waxing it I used early expresso to ink the very vanilla cardstock strips on this page.  The layout has been modified to fit some horizontal photos and I think I like the overall effect.

Patti's young daugher, who joined us today, complete this summer swim page using supplies she brought with her and created her matching wax resist in tempting turquoise. 

I really liked the way wax resist allowed people to create designer papers even with retired colours.  Gotta love that idea.   

Supplies for most pages:  PAPER: Sahara Sand 12 x12 cardstock, very vanilla 2x12", First Edition dp 3x12" STAMPS: Lovely Letters Alphabet stamp set or Defining Alphabet stamp set, Notes & Details stamp set, Sanded background stamp INK: Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand and inks to coordinate with photos OTHER: Small and Large tag punches, crop-a-dile for punching holes in the tags, large Designer Big Buttons and hemp

Cold Play

This month, while going though my old photo albums, I realized I have very few pictures of us enjoying the winter months.  Why, when we had so much fun in the snow?  Duh!  How easy it is to forget that would require someone to stay out of the fun and record it.  Quite tricky when you think of it.   With all the equipment and stuff to carry, needing two hands to dress, adjust and hold the wee ones and.... how does one hold the camera?  Thankfully, I do have some fabulous memories of my children and cold play.  AND... luckily lately I've had a chance to photograph my wonderful and great-neice and nephew in their winter play. 

 
This layout just sparkles in real life.  Check it out below. 

 

To give these snowflakes their total glitter look I used dazzling diamonds, the Big Shot, Northern Frost Decorative Strip and Big Shot Multipupose Adhesive Sheets!  These adhesive sheets make adding the glitter as simple as punch, peel and dip!
