Starring You

Here's a scrap map challenge for those of you who enjoy a nudge to get your juices flowing.  Often I push myself to try a different layout, colour scheme or technique in order just get going. 

Our Grandson spent his birthday morning watching an antique tractor parade.  It couldn't have been more fun for him.  At two he's just in love with all Mighty Machines as you can see by these photos.  (Yes, I did notice my spelling mistake - that star got me I think... anyway, as you will notice in the next photo I totally changed my title.)

I always used dotto when I put my pages together so it's easy to move items about.  Too funny I know but I'm a very hands-on scrapper.  My final page is another version again.  Check back later for a peek.  I'll be sure to post it in the album on the side of my blog.  My scrap club gave this one a try, and everyone came up with something just a little different.

Thankful For...

As part of a large, extended, family I am lucky enough to always be able to hold a fresh faced baby and enjoy the advice and experience of those who are a step ahead of me in our journey.  I'm so thankful that Mom and Dad raised us to treasure and look after each other and that we still gather together at each season and holiday.  The photos on this page are from our Canadian Thanksgiving celebration this year and as you can see a terrific time was had by all.  As usual there was a centerpiece competition and the team effort that we enjoyed the most was the one that had to be on a table outside.  Fireworks and flags was their fall theme???

Who won the competition?, you ask.   Why all of us, of course!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American Friends.  The rest of us - just enjoy the fact that we don't have any white stuff on the ground yet and get your Christmas lights up, will ya!

Road Trip .... Memories of PEI

Here's my second take on this week's layout.  I love the visual images - they grab you and create a quick montage of your trip.  Easy to produce, this layout is going to get revised for a landscape layout.... I see it now.

 

Sorry about the quality of this photograph but it was not taken in natural light...and so the colours are not too true.  BUT don't you just love the embossed vellum title. 

MY TITLE:  Yes, there is a silver cast to the bottom of each letter.  It's not glare but a double embossing technique.  I first stamped on vellum with black craft ink then coated the top of the letters  with clear ep, shook off the extra and then coated the bottom of the letters with silver ep. Finally, I heat embossed and taa-daa!  Black/Silver letters.    I mounted the vellum on an undersized sliver of Bordering blue cardstock with mini glue dots (mostly under the black letters) and then mounted that again to some Night of Navy card stock.

My journalling on cardstock vellum is in Nearly Navy Stampin' Up! ink colour using the program Microsoft Word.  I enjoy journalling this way.  It's fast and really finishes off the page.  Note:  I am currently using a lazer jet printer and the ink comes out dry.  If you have an ink jet printer you will have to be careful handling your vellum until the ink dries.  (BUT - - - Did you know you can emboss your text on vellum if you have an ink jet printer?  No? Well you can and I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this and really miss my ink jet printer when I think about it.

I've attached my journalling with silver brads but you can also use mini glue dots, snail or glue stick.  All forms of glue show just a bit unless you fold the edges and add the glue to the underside.  I only do this trick for wedding cards when I must otherwise, brads or eyelets are perfect.

Stamp set "Always".  I stamped a tiny flower in boardering blue and popped it out with a 1/2 incle circle punch and put the silver brads through the center to attach the vellum.

Amazing Arizona... Journaling on Vellum

Finally I've had time to scrap our last family holiday to Arizona.  No spot on earth has left such a mark on us all.  Beautiful, magificant, magestic and Hot, Hot, Hot!  We loved it.  Hope you like my first page of this album.

I used Microsoft Word to select the font colour to print on this vellum.  I find that printing my journaling means that it's done as soon as my page is created and I don't leave a page waiting to be completed later.  You can find the RGB codes for Stampin' Up! colours on my Colour link at the left hand side of my blog. 

I took this same layout to begin scrapping my ROAD TRIP this summer.  Check back to see how I changed that page and how I made use of the vellum.

My Digital Studio oh... What Fun!

My new Digital Studio from Stampin' Up! just arrived and once my sweet hubby installed it for me I just couldn't leave it alone.  What a ball it is to drag and drop my photographs onto a scrap page - taa daa!   I can't wait to get all our photos off my computer and finally out on display.   

Here's my first attempt at digital scrapping of a wedding we celebrated this August. 

 

A beautiful memory for a lovely young couple.   Now, I can't wait to see this in print!

Baby Steps... chipboard

Finally, after only a few days without my computer, I'm up and running again.  Thanks to my sweet hubby who has reloaded almost all my programs.  I'm so lucky to have him!  If you haven't heard from me and were expecting to, try emailing again and I'll respond asap.  I've lost all my email connections and am entering your addresses one by one if I have them.  (tap..tap...tap this could take me a bit of time ) 

Now, on to my Baby Steps.  As a follow up to my A.B.C.s of Chipboard I'm posting todays scrap page.  The letter B (chipboard) is simply sponged in Whisper White craft ink, air dried, then embellished with some trio flower punched flowers. 

The rest of the title is stamped in classic ink (markers) on vellum, using the "Defining Alphabet", then embossed with clear embossing powder and white embossing powder.  Did you know you could emboss any of our classic ink colours in clear ep on velum?  I think adding the white ep makes the colours softer but not pastel and that's the look I was going for.  Oh yes, I used my two way glue pen to outline the edge of my vellum and adhere white ep which I then heated.  I found this worked fine but if you look closely you'll notice some bubbling. (I like this eratic edging on the vellum.)

The dets -  Cardstock Ruby Red, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery designer paper.  Ink: Ruby Red, Ballet Blue, Certainly Celery, markers,  Punches etc: 1 1/4 inch punched ruby red circles under the header, three certainly celery buttons, and the Sale-A-Bration celery ribbon threaded through 1/4" holes (crop-0-dile) in the ruby red cardstock.  Enjoy Every Moment stamp set (page 65) was inked in bashful blue and coloured with a ruby red marker for the journal circle which I cut out with my Circle Scissors Plus. 

Too funny!  I designed this page with my grandson in mind...and now can't find the photos of his first tentative steps.  Oh, well... it may have to be used by the next baby who joins our family.  If I get hold of those photos I'll be sure to post my final version.

Cool Kids Memory Book

I'm so excited!  I ordered the Cool Kids Simply Scrapin' Kit and it was waiting for me when I returned from our weekend away.  This kit is sooo cute I jumped right in and made my niece a 6x6 Cool Kid memory book just in time for a new year at school.  I can't wait to give it to her.  Check it out below. Home Decore - Twisted

In our exciting new Decore Elements Catalogue there are so many delicious decorating images and ideas that I'm longing to redecorate.  You should definetly check it out for ideas and inspiration.  It's full of so many beautiful ways to use our images around the home.

Today's scrap page is a twist on a home decoration idea.  Jacynths Geuthier used a new stencil template from our Decore Elements catalogue to create this beautiful embossed image on her scrap page below.

 

Jacynths used a stencil brush to apply Versa Mark ink to her page through the cuts in the Kind Thoughts Brocade stencil and, after removing the stencil, sprinkled on clear embossing powder and melted it with her heat tool.  Simple as that and just gorgeous! I love the combination of Chocolate Chip, Craft and Melon Mambo!  Adorable...

Circus Circle Inspiration

A few weeks ago I decided to join a group of demonstrators who were swapping 12 x 12 layouts.  The turn-around time was only a couple of days away so, searching for inspiration, I spied this card and just had to use the colour scheme and stamp sets as a starting point. 

 

This sweet, baby card designed by my good friend and fellow demonstrator,SHERIDA GIDDINGS, uses two new stamp sets "Circle Circus" and "Animal Stories. Here's the scrap page I whipped up thanks to her inspiration!

I can't wait to get my grandson's photos onto this spread! 

To the Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and So Saffron Ink and cardstock I added Rich Razzleberry to make it pop.  Other: Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, Rich Razzleberry dotted ribbon, Bashful Blue satin ribbon, Soft Subtle brads, Serif Essentials Bigz dies and GoGo Boots Sizzix dies for the title, Circle Scissor Plus for the journal bubble, Circle punches 1 1/4", 1 3/8", and 1 3/4".
