On the Grow - Gift Card Holder

I think this sweet floral set is just the thing to use on a retirement gift card.  This week a customer gave her sister the nicest gift... Can you imagine a Stampin' Up! shopping trip?  Well that's what her family decided her retirment gift should be.  Lucky lady eh? 

Here's a peek at my finished gift card holder.

 

 
All in blues this 3-3/4' x 8-1/2" card is a Not Quite Navy base combined with Greenhouse Gala and tied with a Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon.  The level  2 hostess set "Fast and Fabulous" was stamped in Stazon ink and coloured with marker and blender pen.  Tiny pearls are placed in each flower centre and then the card was spritzed with Frost White Shimmer paint mixed in alcohol.  The greeting is from "Short and Sweet" #115060.

So, I guess you're wondering where the "On the Grow" stamp set is. 

Inside of course!  I love the saying in this set and thought it really suited the journey of Retirement... " every day is the perfect adventure".  Doesn't that just sum up what Retirement should be?

Teacher Gifts

What present would make a hard working teacher feel appreciated?  I'm sure you've considered a good book or something delicious and home made.  If you're looking for some inspiration check out this article, "If You Give a Teacher a Cookie", at GREAT SCHOOLS. 

The project below may help you with presentation of your gift/s this year.  Starting with an envelope you can make a unique and eyecatching gift card holder.

Inside the envelope gift card holder...room for a card of your choice.  (OK I substituted my sweet hubby's card for a gift card in this photo. 

Once you fold the envelope, crease it with your bonefolder and open the flap up.  A little trick - Fold the envelope in half once again with the flap up and snip a triangle out of the flap at the fold.  Glue one side of the flap down and begin decorating.  Remember to adhere the ribbon to the envelope before adding any decorations on the front.

Gift Card Holder - pocket card style

This is just so gosh darn cute...I had to show you the whole project.  Here are the details of the Sweet Centers gift card holder I designed for my neice the other day.

 

The gift card holder as presented.

Pull out the tag and it holds a gift card with your private message underneath.

Slip off or untie the ribbon and the treats are there for instant gratification!  Shop later for more fun!

Ingredients:

Stamps:  Bugs and Kisses #116580;
Paper: Tempting Turquoise (8-1/2" x 3"), Gable Green (2-3/4" x 2-3/4 and 2-3/4" x 5-1/4") Whisper White scrap;
Ink: Markers-Tempting tourquoise, Pink Passion, Gable Green;
Other: Tempting Tourquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, SAB ribbon 2008, Sweet Treats cup #116802 (for 12); tools, Scallop edge punch #112091, 1-3/4" Circle punch #112004,Tag punch #105934, Slit punch #104388,Crop-A-Dile #108362

Gift Card Ornament

If you're worried about what to get that teen on your list join the crowd and give the gift that fits all - a gift card.  With a lot of teens on my personal shopping list I've been looking for a new way to present my gift cards!  Here's an idea that was inspired by my friend Cynthia McKellar.  I just love the fact that these can hang on your tree or fit in our square envelopes to be mailed.  This one is actually for a friend of mine who loves to read. 

 

This little Ruby Red scalloped ornament is decorated with Holiday Treasures DP.   The Little Deer is from a level two hostess set, punched out and finished off with a scallop circle of Chocolate Chip Cardstock.  A Gold cord runs through a rounded tab.

   

Turned over the other side has a pocket where you can safely tuck a gift card.   

Decorated for individuals on your list this little ornament suits everyone!

Christmas Gift Card Holders part 2

Below are two more samples of Gift card holders. 

You might wonder why I'm creating a number of different Gift Card holders this year.   
Each year when our large, extended family gathers for Christmas it seems that one of the kids always manages to leave with two gift cards by accident.  You can imagine how disappointed the child left behind is when they find that their card is missing!  I figure if I make each child's gift card holder different, they will all go home with their own cards solving our annual dilemma.

This gift card holder begins with a Whisper White envelope, folded in half and mounted on Real Red card stock.  Fun and simple too! 

The following card is a pocket style card.  I used River Rock and Bashful Blue card stock.  The flap of this card uses a strip of double sided designer paper from the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' kit.   I love this Scrappin' Kit! 

Here's the inside of the card above showing the pocket. 

The stamp set used on this card is The Snowflake Spot (Flocons piquetis) with Whisper White craft ink and white embossing powder on the Bashful Blue.  On the River Rock, I used the craft Whisper White with no embossing for a softer look.

With  Christmas fast approaching I'm using the Scrappin' Kits to make my projects snappy and easy too!

Tomorrow my Sunday Stamper's club is meeting to have a fun time stamping together!
Each month one club member hosts the group and receives the hostess stamp set of her choice and selects free products from the catalogue!  Every month the ladies try at least one new technique and a different style of card. Every month the ladies agree to order about $30.00 worth of product.  (This amount varies according to the number of club members and how many months the club is running.)  Alll in all we have a great time together, learn something new and invest in our hobby.

If you live in the Ottawa - Kanata - Orleans area and are interested in joining a stampers club, be sure to let me know as I am starting a new group in January.  Have a friend who wants to join the same club?  No problem, the more the merrier! 

I don't want to spoil the surprise for my club members so I'll post the new technique card for this month later.

Christmas Gifts

I hope you are all having a wonderful time getting ready for entertaining friends and family this season.  A few friends of mine have everything done: tree is up, gifts are wrapped and cookies made.  But I'm not anywhere near that myself.  I do have some decorations up and my cards made.  Much shopping, wrapping and baking will be crammed into the next couple of weeks.   But Christmas isn't Christmas in my home without some homemade gifts.  Below you will see what I have been making this  evening.

Here is a fun little guy that no one could resist ! 

I was playing with some large glass beads and found that with a little bit of Crystal Effects, some paper and ink, I created a cute little broach.  Crystal Effects adheres the paper to the glass and the pin to the back.
It almost looks like he's inside and icy world.

I'm going to try a few other images and see which one I like the best. 
With little effort and a very reasonable cost you can have a unique hostess gift or stocking stuffer to give this holiday.

Slider shopping card holder

Here is another idea for presenting the gift of a shopping card.
A slider card is a fun way for your friend or family member to find  out that they can go shopping thanks to  you!

Gift Cards - a handy teen solution

This month my stamping club will be making several gift card holders similar to the ones pictured here.  What a way to dress up your present and make it special!  Nothing says loving like something hand made. Illustrating that you purchased a gift card, not to be lazy but thoughtful.
