Wedding Scrapbook layout or...

Last month my Scrap Club Ladies got to create and personalize this tone-on-tone layout.  Some used it as I did and some placed wedding photos on it.  Now, I wish I had taken some pictures of their completed pages. Perhaps when they come this month I'll ask them if they'll share their amazing layouts with you and you'll see how versatile this one really is!

I also shared my layout with other demonstrators and customers at a demo table this summer.  What fun it was to show how my journalling pops out of the little pocket above.  Just pull the lace tab and it's interactive though the plastic protective page.  (I'll give a little tutorial on that in a couple of weeks. Easy peasy.) 

The Left hand page still awaits either one 5x7 portrait sepia photo or a set of two 5"x3.5 photos.

Yes, we did use the Big Shot and textured Embossing Folder on this side!  (Vintage Wallpaper 120175) Texture provided by the folder and the felted Mocha Morning Designer paper really adds interest to this layout.

Pennant Parade Sneak Peek

Last month I bit the bullet and designed a scrap layout using a pennant title. (you can see it at the bottom of this page)  My customers loved it but all of us commented that it would be so much easier if Stampin' Up would create a punch. Well, guess what I was able to order in my demonstrator pre catalogue order?  Yup, a pennant punch!!!  I was so excited I could hardly wait for it to arrive at my door.  Bless those design people at Stampin' Up! who also created a wonderful stamp set "Pennant Parade" that coordinates with this amazing punch!

Here's some bits and pieces I stamped with Pennant Parade, in our new In Colours, and punched out with the pennant punch.

 

 
There are even more images in this little stamp set! You'll be inspired to create cards, scrap pages and party items galore.

Here's the first card I made using this set inspired by one by Fran Sabad which she shared on our Stampin' Up site.  It was so easy ladies...I had to giggle while I played! 

 

Details:

The letters I stamped using the retired set "Rough Edges" and punched out with the 1/2" circle punch.  Just for you is a greeting from "Teeny Tiny Wishes".  Cardstock: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White & Cookie Crumble Ink: lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral & Island Indigo

I've got more ideas in my wee brain for this set.  Thinking... icecream cones, Christmas trees and tags.  Can't wait to get time in my room to stamp again to make them.

I can't wait to create another birthday banner layout!  My youngest will be 21 this month so I may get an opportunity very soon if she lets me take photos.  lol

Snow Much Fun to sneak a peek

I'm so excited to be able to play with some stamps and products from our new catalogue which is available to you on July 1st.   Hold onto your ice drink while you take a look at the following Christmas card.  lol... Yup!  I'm stamping Christmas cards this week. 

 

Snow Much Fun is the name of this sweet snowman set.   In order that you could get an idea of the new In -colours I  stamped in stazon and coloured with markers in pool party, lucky limeade, island indigo, and calypso coral.  (four of the five new In colours) 

 

In this shot you can see the only embelishments - Dazzling Diamonds and a bit of Crystal Effects on the tree ornaments.

 

The inside has one more image from this set. The greeting is from "Contempo Christmas" set. With very little effort this card was put together in about 10 minutes.  I can't wait to play some more with this set.  The new catty shows it stamped in browns... Gotta love the inspiration!!!

Phew!  It's great weather to be swimming or stamping in airconditioned stamp room.

Simply Nature

Nature Walk is the kind of stamp set that inspires simplicty as the images are so beautifully detailed that they can stand alone.  I hope you find today's card illustrates that concept as well as I do. 

 

All one tone and no embellishments and only shades of one colour this card is simple and makes you focus on the butterfly image.  My stamper's club loved adding the background colour by inking up the clear block with crumb cake.  The very vanilla layer (4"x5-1/4") was first run through the Big Shot with the Framed Tulips embossing folder then sponged with crumb cake ink around the edges.  The butterfly image (from Nature Walk w 121925 or c 121997) was stamped in early esspresso on vanilla and then cut out and mounted on a dimentional.  The greeting (from Define Your Life w 114950) was stamped in crumb cake so as not to take the eye away from the main event. 

I love the "Define Your Life" stamp set as did my stamp club.  It has a definition/greeting for every letter of the alphabet.  My next version of this card will be for my daughter at the end of her perceptorship this month and will say... Journey - An experience or process that leaves you changed; trail of experience.  From here to there.  That pretty much sums up her studies this past two years.  We are so proud of her, her efforts and successes!

4 Gifts of Christmas

4 Cards - Product Comparison

A unique and beautiful handmade card is what most of us want to send to our friends and family at Christmas time.  So for a Christmas swap I played with a set that is just so elegant, Gifts of Christmas  #115372.  Beginning with my simplest sample I'll show you my creative process while I played with some glitzy smooch and shimmer paint with the hopes of giving you a comparison of these products.

I love the layout of this card and it's simply pretty without fussing too much.  The addition of hand painted Smooch Pearlized Accent ink "illuminate Top Coat" #121084 adds an understated elegance and glitter to the soft suede and very vanilla combination.

 
  I thought I'd try a version that had a bit more texture and came up with this arrangement below.

I added a mounting layer of my current favourite colour, Cherry Cobbler, and textured the very vanilla with the Square Lattice embossing folder. (mounted on a crumb cake layer)  For futher glam I stamped the image in versa mark and embossed it in gold embossing powder #109129.  I then painted the dove and textured background with Frost White Shimmer Paint #116854.  This one may be my favourite combination but took a fair bit of time to create.

Below you'll see my attempt to create a vintage feeling with this same layout.

Stamped and sponged in soft suede on very vanilla cardstock this card has the gorgeous addition of Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz  #118772 to make it Christmas worthy.  The stunning vanilla dove was masked before sponging and unmasked for the smooch spritz.  (I just LOVE the shimmer of this product!) The cherry cobbler flower centers were punched (eyes of Owl punch) from cardstock, covered with a dot of Crystal Effects #101055, and left to air dry.  Though I was pleased with the results this was a bit time consuming as well. 

After sponging 30 of these cards (This is the one I decided to create for my Christmas card swap) I wished I had thought to brayer the background but didn't want to take my 30 cards apart to do it.  So... I had to try it just once.

 

 

 

Back to a two cololour card with the dove painted this time with Moonlight Smooch Pearlied Accent Ink #119969.  This lovely product comes with a terrific applicator and is mess free.  I do like how clean and crisp this brayered and texturized background is.  Don't you?

I hope I've given you a good comparison of the shimmery paint products found on page 195 of our current catalogue and idea book and some inspiration with this elegant Christmas stamp set "Gifts of Christmas" found on page 43.

Take Two - Cottage Garden

The other day I inked up a stamp set for the first time and cased this layout off of Splitcoaststampers from Ilin Crouse.  I just loved the rounded corners and the colour combination.  When I finished the first card some scraps caught my eye and I just had to try it again in a slightly different colour combination.   Two different feelings are created though I think both cards are attractive.  Which one do you prefer?

 This card just pops in Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzaz.  The ribbon is a retired one from last year and the designer paper is very current - Sunny Garden #119831.  If you think this set looks familiar it should.  If you look in last year's Idea Book and Catalogue and find "Cottage Wall" designer paper you'll know why.

In a second take on the same layout, designer paper and stamp set this card is still a happy one but a little gentler on the eyes.  This one is Perfect Plum, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade and Pear Pizzaz. 

So... which one do YOU prefer?

Fall Wedding Invitations

I love the fall for weddings.  The changing leaves present a wonderful backdrop for your festivities.  I'm so glad that Robyn and Mark have chosen this season to say their vows.  Using the stamp set "Autumn Splender" I've come up with this wedding invitational set in Very Vanilla and Rich Razzleberry with a bit of River Rock thrown in for good measure.

 

I did try a couple of other variations of the same invitation. 

This is vertually the same card turned vertically and made in vanilla and River Rock.  Ribbons are Vanilla Satin and Always Artichoke grosgrain.  I couldn't resist the three tiny pearls which are self adhering and from our new Mini.

This version is stamped in river rock on vanilla which is mounted on rich razzleberry.  The card base is river rock.  Since I don't yet have the razzleberry satin ribbon I cheated and used some retired cranberry crisp satin ribbon.  It seems to have such a wedding feel.

Love is like a Butterfly

Love is like a butterfly...it goes where it pleases and pleases where it goes.  Well, the butterfly has landed at our home.  My little Robin is engaged to be married.  She and her betrothed, Mark, are so smitten they are eager to formally seal their union.  We couldn't be more pleased as they seem so well suited and bring out the best in each other. 

So... What to do but start thinking wedding but before I do I'm going to show you these two cards that sort of follow the theme.  But beware... with the Ottawa Wedding Show in a week and a family wedding in a month (Yikes! we must quickly get into the groove.) there will be lots of wedding things featured this month.  I'm so excited to begin but that's for tomorrow, today a technique card done twice for double the fun. 

These butterflies are stamped in a diaper wipe dotted in pear pizzaz, blushing bride and rich razzleberry re-inkers.  This creates a personalized stamp pad but you must remember to clean your stamp off each time you use it or the colours will become muddy.  Punched out with our Butterfly punch (#119848) Each butterfly is topped off with a Basic Rhinestone #119246.  

Stamp sets: Butterfly Prints #121049 w or #120738 c (where the butterflies and the title for this blog entry came from) and Flight of the Butterfly #111564 where the greeting came from.

Paper: blushing bride cardstock, whisper white cardstock and Patterns Designer Series paper stack (rich razzleberry) 

A second look at the same technique in another colour combo below.

Wow!  This colour combination really pops!  Both colour combinations were taken from our new colour coach.  (#121620) 

Reinkers:  tempting turquoise,  tangerine tango, so saffron

Cardstock: tangerine tango, whisper white, and Patterns Designer Series paper stack (tangerine tango)  

Which colour combination do you like best?

Whichever it is you can be sure to find a new or interesting colour combination with our new colour coach.  I'm glad I purchased it and can see it will take me to unchartered colour territory!

Upsy Daisy Inspiration

This past Sunday I posted a challenge to both stampers and scrappers.  Create a card or a scrap page inspired by or based on a 6 x 6" scrap page.  Check my last post to see some great 6x6 pages designed by fellow demonstrators. When your mojo is stuck looking other places for inspiration is one of the things I do.  Luckily there are lots of stampers and scrappers who love to share what we do. 

The page designed by Suzanne reminded me how much fun ghosting was so I dug out my Upsy Daisy stamp set and created this card.  (I know I didn't stick to her colour scheme but these papers were on my desk.) I love how soft and subtle the cameo coral inked image becomes when stamped over with whisper white.   I also love how blush blossom and cameo coral just hum together.  Created simply with stamps, ink and paper. (Not one embelishment!)

Below is another card inspired by the page designed by Josee Smuck.  (click here to see it)  Though the colours are not in my comfort zone I still love how it turned out. 

 

Stamped with Messages for Mom available from our current mini.  I can't wait to play with this set a bit more! Check back to see what I come up with.   Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron and Certainly Celery paper, T.T. grosgrain ribbon, button, and ink.  Did you notice I even snuck in the crimper along the bottom of this card?  I think I caught the feeling of Josee's page.

Scrap Swap Challenge

For those of you who wish you were scrapping a lot more, here's a challenge that might just get you going.  Take a 6x6" scrap page and use it as a starting point for a 12 x12" or 8-1/2x11" page.  This little exercise kick starts my creative juices when I'm stuck.  

Below you'll find a series of 6x6" pages just perfect for a mother's day gift or for a travel scrapbook.  I love the 6x6" scrapbook size for books that tell a story from beginning to end.  (School year scrapbook, wedding gift scrapbook, A Year in the Life of ..., The story of Grandma, Trip scrapbook etc.)

Now...for your challenge: I suggest you take one of the little pages below, created by my demonstrator friends, as a starting point for a 12x12 page.  Don't know what this might look like or how to proceed? Just check my last post where you can see an example.  http://www.stamperspad.com/home/2010/04/butterfly-inspiration.html  Once you have a completed sample just email me a photo and I'll post it in May which is scrapbook month and you can inspire the rest of us!

Created by: NICOLE CARPINI  Pale Plum and Bashful Blue cardstock are just so soft and beautiful together.  I can just see a photo of Mother and newborn on this page!  The title was stamped in Lovely Lilac classic ink and the tiny heart was punched using our new "small heart" punch from the current mini.

Ok scrappers, grab your supplies and get started creating your 12 x 12 or 8-1/2 x 11" pages.
