Petal Cone Sweet Tweets

The most versatile Big Shot die has got to be the petal cone die!  With a little imagination it can be remade into so many treat holders suitable for almost any occasion.  Here's a table treat to be used at a child's birthday party at an Easter celebration or baby shower.

Ingredients:

Stamp: Medallion - 115223
Ink: daffodile delight classic - 119667
Cardstock: daffodile delight, bashful blue scrap, basic black scrap, Patterns Designer Series Pack (tangerine tango scrap)
Adhesives: sticky strip #104294
Big Shot & Petal cone die # 121810 , Scallop Circle 113468
Punches: 1" circle - 119868, 3/4" circle - 119873 Crop-A-Dial - 108362
Ribbon: Bashful Blue 3/8" satin (retired), daffodile delight 1/8" taffeta - 119254

This clever idea came from a fellow demonstrator.  I'm sorry I can't give credit as my computer crashed and all my files were unable to be salvaged.  (If it's your original idea please let me know and I'll rectify this asap!)

Big Shot Monster

Hi friends,

I've had some time away from posting but kept busy stamping and have lots to share with you.  Today I'm sharing a twizzler treat Monster that my friend Linda Palisek designed for her card group this month.  I just had to try it for myself and had a ball doing it. 

What a great idea for a Halloween Party.  Each guest could create their own or you could make them as a table decoration.  However you choose to use them, be sure to give this guy a try.

Ingredients:

Cardstock:  lucky limeade, whisper white, basic black,
Big Shot & Scallop Circle Die - 113468 (punch two from lucky limeade)
1 3/4" circle punch - 119850  (whisper white)
1 3/8" circle punch - 119860 (basic black)
Large Tag punch - 119876 (punch two from basic black)
Marker:  Basic Black - 100082
Ribbon:  poppy parade stitched-poly 119263
Adhesives: sticky strip - 104294, Snail - 104332

Beautiful Gift Boxes by Carole Lee

Introducing Carol Lee Cowan...a creative designer par excellance!  What a joy it was to meet Carol Ann at the Spring Fling a few months ago.  She not only creates beautiful things, but shares her designs too!  You can imagine my delight when I found out she's married to a friend of mine from highschool days!

 

I caught this picture while Carol was demonstrating how she makes her boxes from templates.  What a gorgeous smile!  It's obvious she enjoys sharing her hobby and getting other people hooked too!

Below you can take a peek at some of the detailed art work she shared with other stamping enthusiasts this past spring.

 

Totally created with the Petal Punch this is the most gorgeous flower I've seen made!  Carol Ann went a step beyond and ran each petal throught the big shot using the Finial Press texture embossing folder, sponged ink on each piece before assembling and finally added glitter with a glue pen!  I'm so smitten with this that I'm actually ordering this punch.  I now MUST have it!

 
 
This quick shot gives you a peek at a few different size and styles of Carol Ann's boxes.  LOVE, love, love the embelishments and atttention to layers and colours that are part of everything Carol Ann creates!

 
More tiny boxes made with tons of love.  I think each of these has embossing on top of embossing.  Just Yummy to look at!  Notice how Carol Ann layered the embossed flowers on the yellow box above. 
These Top Note die boxes show care and attention to decorate in a layered fashion and as your eye explores you find differnt ways that Carol Ann makes her images pop with brads or glitter.  Just delicious Eye Candy, I say!!!

 

Just in case you imagine that Carol Ann just runs her boxes all quickly through the big shot... think again.  Here she is demonstrating how to create different sized boxes using a bone folder and scoring tool. 

 

One last peek at a couple of beautiful cards!

It's a Boy!

With the arrival of our newest grandson this past month has been an exciting one.  Blessed with many lovely friends and an excited family, my daughter was truely showered in the weeks before the little guy's arrival.  Below you'll find the invitations for Robin's shower, her thankyou notes and the banner I made for Cayden's arrival. 

 

Created out of old blue jeans, this banner was made with the Big Shot and specialty dies.   (Pennant #113483, Serif Essentials  #113464, Stars #2 #113461, Hearts & Brackets #115955)  I die cut shapes after ironing on adhesive so it was super easy to iron these onto the pennant.  With just a few buttons and some embroidery I was finished this one-of-a-kind shower banner.

 

I can't wait 'till I have to make the "girly" version, with lace and all.

the inside wording done on the computer in matching ink colour:

These Thank You Notes were very simple and came together quickly.  Just one night of cutting out elephants in front of the TV and the lot was done! 

Below is a photo of the little fellow who entered our world and has kept us all engrossed this past month.

 

There's nothing like family and a new baby is the most precious gift from God.  Don't you agree?

Though Cayden's been a huge distraction I have done some stamping and scrapping over the last while.  I'll be sharing some cards my friend created until I have time to photograph my latest cards and scrap pages so check back tomorrow to see what Raegan has in store for you.

Bridal Bustier

 
After meeting with my team the other night I just had to take on their challenge of turning the Petal Cone Die into a naughty but nice Bridal Bustier.  Could it also be a valentine gift holder? Hmmm... I think so! 

 
 

A little embossed vellum, satin ribbon and clear embossing help to lend some elegance to this little bustier.  Designed to stand instead it could be adapted to be a table place setting with the name of your guest on it. 

 

I made this box one inch wide but this could easily be adjusted to suit the size of your gift. 

 

This shot shows the clear embossing which wasn't noticable in the other shots.

Petal Cone Party Favours

Yesterday I got time to play with some of my treasures from the NEW Occasions Mini Catalogue and Oh-Yes ... I found I've got my Mojo back.  

With Family Festivities, Valentine's Day, Easter, Weddings and Showers in the future I desided to purchase the versatile Petal Cone Biz Die and boy am I glad!

 

What a neat party favour this litte cone can create.  Open or closed it holds quite a bit and can sit at the table as a name marker and hold a treat too.

 

From the side, closed up tight and topped with a scalloped punched carnation , Springtime Vintage designer paper and a variety of ribbons. 

And .... with just a few tweaks the same big shot die can make the little heart basket below.

 

Two very different gift packages from one die... terrific I say!

Teacher Gifts

What present would make a hard working teacher feel appreciated?  I'm sure you've considered a good book or something delicious and home made.  If you're looking for some inspiration check out this article, "If You Give a Teacher a Cookie", at GREAT SCHOOLS. 

The project below may help you with presentation of your gift/s this year.  Starting with an envelope you can make a unique and eyecatching gift card holder.

 

Closed gift card holder.

 

Inside the envelope gift card holder...room for a card of your choice.  (OK I substituted my sweet hubby's card for a gift card in this photo. 

Once you fold the envelope, crease it with your bonefolder and open the flap up.  A little trick - Fold the envelope in half once again with the flap up and snip a triangle out of the flap at the fold.  Glue one side of the flap down and begin decorating.  Remember to adhere the ribbon to the envelope before adding any decorations on the front.

Getting Ready for the Goblins

Thursday night my friend Raegan and I helped our mutual friend Jennifer get some Halloween goodies ready for her daughter's classmates.  I hope they enjoy the treat as much as we enjoyed creating them.

 

Since Jennifer's daughter is giving these Sweet Treat cup cards to her kinder friends, they were embossed in black and left for her to colour the images.  (her part in the creation)

I didn't think to take a shot of this card open but inside there's a verse and the children can get at the candy just by pulling the "sweet treats" tab.  So easy and cute too.

 

Here's the team - Jen on the left and Raegan on the right - busy in the process of assembling these little goodies.

 

Almost all done.  Did you know that full day kindergarten classes of 4 year olds have up to 30 or so little people in one classroom?  In Jen's daughter's room there are 30 little goblins!  Phew - Give those teachers a hug when you see them!

Have fun getting ready for those little goblins visiting at your door this Halloween.  Enjoy their pleasure and giggles and don't forget to act scared.

Fabulous Fabric Banners

You may think I've gone a bit bonkers over banners but I can think of so many that I want to make.   I'm already visualizing a Halloween "Boo" in orange, black and white a "Happy New Year" in silver and black and a "It's a Girl/Boy" in pink or blue.  Why not a banner celebrating the two who will be married?  This is really unlimited and so much fun!

Today I'm sharing one for Christmas that happens to be in the same felt colours that I had on hand for the Birthday Banner I shared earlier this week.

 

Sorry I didn't burn that paper yet but it's just too hot here.  Soon enough.

Here's a close up showing the new designer fabric from our Holiday Mini Catalogue which I used for the letters.  The Green ribbon is the new 1/2 inch Stitched-Polly ribbon in Pear Pizzaz.  The striped Early Espresso ribbon is just for decoration and tied onto the Pear Pizzaz.  The buttons are retired from last year's catalogue. 

I can just imagine this dressed up with greenery this December.  Can't you?
