Peekaboo Club Designs

I love seeing how my scrap club ladies make our monthly scrap layout their own. Sometimes it's as simple as changing the title, sometimes it's reorienting the pages, sometimes it almost a complete overhaul.  Check these pages from our October crop day. 

I love how Christine rotated the left-hand page to scrap these precious photos of a special family reunion!

And Kim cropped these sweet photos of her daughter to 4"x4" making the layout more eye appealing and almost colour blocked!

I hope these alternate photo arrangements inspire you to give this layout a try.  I only managed to photos of two completed layouts this month but I'll be faster on the button next month so stay tuned.

Peekaboo Photos Scrap Page

As soon as I saw the Peekaboo Frame Big Shot die I had a vision of this page.  I couldn't wait 'till it arrived to try out my idea!  I wanted to use each frame as an interactive element in my scrap page so I could have more photos on one page. 

Each of the blue frames can be lifted to show another face underneath.  I love the way this page engages the viewer. (Yes, this page is inside a sleeve protector.)

 

This is actually the right-hand side of my layout but I created it first.  Have you ever done that?  I had some difficulty designing the left-hand page as I didn't want to just flip it.  I also had a limit on my designer paper that I already used in quite a few cards so below you'll see the two layouts I tried. 

This page makes use of one 8"x10" photos and ties it up totally.  But I also wanted to have options for my stampers club to use smaller photos so here's what my final page looks like.

 

As you can see our little grandson is very expressive and had so many funny faces on our walk to the beach that I giggled all the way there.  This happened to be the day he discovered that he could play with his feet and the week he began teething so he entertained not only himself but his Papa and I too.

Who Can Resist...

Who can resist this Versa Mark Resist Technique?  It's simply gorgeous and so simple to do!  I have to say, when I first became a demonstrator I tried to do this technique but was unsuccessful every time so, to say it's easy is to know the trick to make it really work.  lol 

I love the soft colour combination is so appealing to me and makes wonderful non-standard use of my Autumn Splendor stamp set.  This card I totally cased from a Convention Swap card I saw at my friend's house and don't know who designed it.  Normally I use leaf sets only in the fall but this card suits many occasions.  Unfortunately, at my stage of life I seem to need a lot of sympathy cards so I used this greeting from "Teeny Tiny Wishes".  I had so much fun making it I created many other versions stamping Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary and Thinking of You as greetings so this card can be multipurpose.  I just noticed my photo doesn't do justice to the little pearl that's beside the greeting.  Look again and you might notice it. 

The Recipe:
Cardstock: whisper white, pool party, glossy white
Ink: classic - pool party, Versa Mark
Stamps:  Autumn Splendor - w116503
Punches: word window - 119857
Other: Pearls, glue dots, brayer

Technique: 

 1. Stamp images on glossy white cardstock in Versa Mark ink. Space you images so that some go off the paper.
KEY****SET ASIDE to DRY FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR OR HEAT SET WITH YOUR HEAT GUN!
2. Once the versa mark is dry ink your brayer with classic ink of your choice and roll it over the whole surface of your glossy cardstock.  Repeat if necessary to make your ink even or darker.
3. Rub off excess ink with a kleenex and your versa marked images will appear white as they resist the classic ink.  Stamp over the whole glossy cardstock in the ink of your choice.  Here I used pool party.  It's darker looking as it's more intense when stamped.

Swap Cards Continued

Here, for your stamping inspiration, are some more wonderful seasonal swap cards. 

Designed by Josee Smuck this pretty stocking was created with the Big Shot and the Holiday Stocking #124098 Bigz Die.  Using Frostwood Lodge designer paper 124002, and embeslished with Mica Flakes 124115 it's just adorable.

Manon Parent created this beautiful card using the Big Shot with the top note die and the new Snow Burst Textured Impression Embossing Folder 124096.  I love the Red satin ribbon with the Holly Berry Bouquet designer paper.  The stitching and sponging are great details. 

Jacynthe Gauthier created this sparkling Christmas Card using dazzling Diamonds over top of this beautiful tree image from Christmas lodge stamp set w-123767 c 123769.  Just beautiful in person!

By Kareen Fillion-Aubut.  I love this image in red on the snowflake punched from Red Glimmer Paper 121790.  Just dazzling.  Big Shot was used to with the Snowflake #2 die 113460 and the Northern Flurry Textured Embossing folder 120902

Jacynthe Gauthier created this beautiful colour blocked card.  I love this layout and can't wait to case it myself!  The beautiful colour combination looks just like the leaves outside my window right now. 

Hopefully you've been as inspired as I have by my talented demonstrator friends.  It's so much fun to create your own holiday cards! I hope you've started already but if not, there's still lots of time to get out your paper and start playing.

Wedding Scrapbook layout or...

Last month my Scrap Club Ladies got to create and personalize this tone-on-tone layout.  Some used it as I did and some placed wedding photos on it.  Now, I wish I had taken some pictures of their completed pages. Perhaps when they come this month I'll ask them if they'll share their amazing layouts with you and you'll see how versatile this one really is!

I also shared my layout with other demonstrators and customers at a demo table this summer.  What fun it was to show how my journalling pops out of the little pocket above.  Just pull the lace tab and it's interactive though the plastic protective page.  (I'll give a little tutorial on that in a couple of weeks. Easy peasy.) 

The Left hand page still awaits either one 5x7 portrait sepia photo or a set of two 5"x3.5 photos.

Yes, we did use the Big Shot and textured Embossing Folder on this side!  (Vintage Wallpaper 120175) Texture provided by the folder and the felted Mocha Morning Designer paper really adds interest to this layout.

Swap Cards - The stockings Were Hung by the Chimney with Care...

Dazzling and delightful, this card was created by Rosalie Crich.  She made wonderful use of our new Silver Glimmer paper and added her greeting in embossed silver.  Just beautiful!

 

Joanne Rolston created this sweet card with "Festive and Fun" stamp set and "Dear Santa".  What a terrific job she did colouring this greeting!

All except this last card used the stocking builder punch #124095.  What a fast and fabulous way to create pretty cards quickly.  You may notice that some of the above cards used this punch with designer paper and some stamped their stockings with the matching stamp set "Stitched Stockings" w-123782 c-123784.  These images make it just so easy to create a variety of cards (not just Christmas Cards). I'll show some others another day.

Perfect Pennant

If you've been following my blog for a while you know I'm a fan of pennants.  With our last pennant die I made many reusable fabric pennants and I'll be keeping that die for a long time to come.  I love it but I also am a fan of our new Perfect Pennant die.  I like how it's so versatile  (are you hearing a theme?) and can be used on cards, scrap pages and also as an actual celberatory banner!  I especially love the two lacy-doilies that are included on this die!  You're going to see a lot of these on my projects this year.

Today I'm sharing a banner that will go on my front door for Halloween.  I'm thinking of hanging it on a large wreath.  I'll take a photo later when it's in place but I think you get the idea.

The triangles on this banner are the largest size on the die.  They're rich razzleberry and I've added stips of old olive to create my own designer paper.  This layering also made the top strong enough to string the grosgrain ribbon through without risking ripping. (try saying that twice.) I used my NEW Timeless Type Junior Alphabet sizzlet dies to cut out the letters.  Those amazing doilies are the ones I'm loving and are punched from tangerine tango. 

 As in most of my projects I tweek them as they sit on my table.  Here's a close up of the letter B with an idea that's brewing up...

These Simply Sweet Circle Monsters are such fun for the young Halloween crowd.  I hope you get out your Big Shot and circle dies or punches and try your hand at creating some yourself.
