Cleaning out my Stash

To make room in my studio for all the new products on my wish list I've decided to clear up some space and use up the lovely things I've been hoarding.  Does everyone hoard beautiful things?  Well, last week marked the beginning of my use-up-or-clear-out  my stash.

Notice all the Rub On's in this friend page.  My scrapper's club got to try their hand a creating a page based around the Rub On's I'd been hoarding!  Such a fun challenge.  These Rub On's came from Sale-A-Bration two years ago.  I've used them on dishes, gift bags and baskets, and cards but I kind of like the way they work on this page.

Judy

Large flower Rub On's were first put on Pretty in Pink then cut out and mounted on Cameo Coral and finally cut out and mounted with a dimentional.  Barely visable is a clear button flower center with a Rub ON topped off with a pink crystal brad.  toyed with topping this picture with an accetate overlay with a Rub On flurish but it was a bit over the top.  Sizzix GoGo Boots letter sizzlets finished off the title with Judy's name in black and Cameo Coral card stock.

Judy, one very special friend of mine, is the lady that decided to clean out her photo bins by locating pictures of friends and family at various celebrations and then scrapping them as gifts for upcoming birthdays or anniversaries.  What a fantastic idea!

You may want to get on the bandwagon, celebrate the good times and clean out your stash of photos and scrap delights as well.  Bring on the New Stampin' Up! Catalogue!

Thanks for popping by today,

Tall Tails...

Check out this amazing paper from Stampin' Up!'s Tall Tales Designer Paper pack.  I couldn't resist pairing it with this sweet elephant from "Animal Stories".  Michelle Sturgeon showed me how to make this cute little byfold card and I really can't stop playing around with it.   The instructions are below so keep scrolling down if you want the dimentions etc.

DSC03087

You can see the cool folds of this card best in the open view below.

DSC03088

Cardstock:  Soft Suede, So Saffron, Ink: Soft Suede & Rose Red Markers!

Here's another sample I created using the Tall Tails dp.

DSC03091

Stamp sets: Circus Circles and Flight of the Butterfly, Ink: Certainly Celery & Dusty Durrango Markers Card stock:  Crushed Curry, Whisper White

DIRECTIONS:

Cut your basic card stock 4 1/4" by 11".  Along the long side score at 2" and  9" then flip your paper over and score at 3 3/4" and  7 1/4" on the same long side .   Fold as shown above.  The panels of designer paper are cut at 1 3/4"" by 4 ".  The front image is stamped on a 2"x 2" square and double mounted.  The inside Whisper White card stock is 4" by 3 1/4".  Hope you have a chance to try this one out for yourself.  It's quite addictive once you get going.

It's raining here in Ottawa so I'm going to get a bit more stamping done before dinner.

Have a great day and thanks for popping by,

Linda

Razzle Dazzle Fellowship

This Z fold "Razzle Dazzle" card I created for a swap while stamping with my friend and fellow demonstrator, Michelle Sturgeon.  My creative process tends to be slow and a bit trial & error in contrast to Michelle's fast and deliberate style.   Michelle has an inate sense of balance and colour it was fun bouncing ideas off her. One of the wonderful surprises I had after becoming a demonstrator was finding out just how much fun it is to enjoy my hobby with other demonstrators who share a passion for paper and stamps.  What an enervating day it was!

DSC03081

Stamp Set: Razzle Dazzle, Card stock: Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Old Olive, Tall Tails Designer Paper, Other: Rich Razzleberry half-inch grosgrain ribbon, Old Olive brad, half-inch circle punch, three-quarter inch circle punch, three-sixteenth corner rounder punch

Happy Canada Day!

I hope all my Canadian friends, enjoy a wonderful time with family and friends today!  My family is lucky enough to live in Canada's capital and take advantage of all the entertainment downtown each year.  This year our children will be with their friends while we are getting up early and heading downtown with ours, umbrella in hand.  (I think it rains almost every July first and bringing an umbrella is our way to ensure it doesn't.)  Whatever the weather we'll return home to a BBQ dinner with the gang, perhaps go swimming to beat the heat before heading out again to see the fireworks.   I love this day!!!

DSC02854

You don't notice it in this photo but my real red stripes are textured using the Big Shot.  Sorry I just couldn't get the light to catch the dots, you'll have to take my word for it.   Embossed leaf is from the set "With Gratitude" (how appropriately named) that I've kept just for this image.  Something exciting in our NEW catalogue, that you can see tomorrow, will mean I can finally let this set go.

So, Canadian friends, wherever you are celebrating have a terrific day and be sure to pause a moment during the festivities to appreciate the freedom and privileges that we enjoy in Canada.

For my American friends, 3 more days and you will be enjoying the same fun, I hope.

June Technique Cards

My Stamper's Technique Club just loves learning new ways to use their tools and products!  This month was so cram packed full of events for my family that I CASEd all of our cards right off of my favourite stamping site, www.Splitcoaststampers.com .  If you aren't a member yet, what's stopping you?  There's no charge for joining.  Anytime I hit the wall and need inspiration I pop by and check out the tallented stampers who share their work there.  If you're not already a member be sure to check it out today.

These first cards were created using Sepia technique and feature two retired stamp sets:  "Summer by the Sea" and "Winds of Grace", the background stamp, "Sanded" (109294) and, from our NEW catalogue, "Teeny Tiny Wishes" (available July 1st.)  I cased this card from an amazingly creative stamper, LeeAnn. You can see her original card here on Splitcoast.  Just loving this effect!

DSC02708

DSC02707

Sepia Technique Directions

Stamp your fine-line image in a waterproof ink like Stampin' Up's Basic Brown, which I used.  Then simply use either Whisper White craft ink refill or Very Vanilla craft ink refill to paint the highlights.  Next use various shades of waterbased browns, like Stampin' Up's classic Chocolate Chip (what I used) or Close to Cocoa to paint the shadows.  The trick is to imagine the light source coming from one direction.

Totally cased from LeeAnn again or, flowerbugnd1, on Splitcoaststampers.  The only thing I changed on her layout was the ribbon.  LeeAnn used the double-sided satin Kiwi Kiss ribbon and I used Certainly Celery ribbon from our SAB. I love how LeeAnn used the butterfly from the level one hostess set, "God's Beauty", don't you?  The other set used on this card is "Great Friend" which is available until the end of June from our occasions mini catalogue.

Vitalized Vellum Instructions

Select three classic ink colours.  Using your lightes colour, open the ink pad and apply directly to vellum covering about one-third of the paper.  After, apply in the same way the next darkest colour ink over one-third of the vellum.  Finally, use a sponge to apply the darkest colour to the final one-third of your vellum.  While the ink is still wet, quickly remove ink by stamping a flat image stamp onto it and then stamping off.  Repeat this until the desired effect is achieved.

NEW STAMPERS CLUB STARTING UP:

I will be starting a new Technique Club this September.  If you want to learn new ways to use your products and want to grow in your hobby supplies in a controlled way, then this club may be for you.  Each member will recieve hostess benefits during one month of this year.  to get more information or to reserve your spot email me at  linda@stamperspad.com .

LAST CHANCE TO ORDER FROM the current catalogue:

Remember... orders for the current catalogue can only be submitted until June 30th.   Order 24-7 here or email me at linda@stamperspad.com to submit your order with mine and save on shipping costs if your order is under $100.

Hope you had a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

Pink Prom

No one warned me about "Prom Night".  I guess my daughter hinted over the past couple of months but I may have been in denial.  As we purchased a dress, shoes, jewlery, hand bag and shawl I should have been "picking up" the vibes about how huge a time this is for my daughter and her friends.

On one of our shopping trips I agreed to pay for nails, hair and makeup for this night but still didn't "get it" until I found out that "nails" meant things added to your nails and glued in place.  (I would call them fake nails.)  Anyway I paid a sum for them that made me finally connect!   My daughter tells me that women get "nails" for wedding and graduation.  So I'm holding on tight for the cost of today's updo and makeup.  My daughter is dancing around primping, excited and in another world.  Finally I'm caught up in the mood.  I'm aware of a day that will be one full of happy memories for my not-so-little girl.  So, I'm just footing the bill and enjoying her excitement.

Kayla and her friends managed to get a neighbour to rent a bus for their transportation to the prom.  I think the bus was the beginning of their celebrations.

Oh, yes... cards for the occasion below:

These were inspired by Kayla's PINK dress and quick because our week was crazy-busy and I made quantities for Kayla and her friends.

Wonderful You

Every day now I'm playing with my "soon to be retired" stamp sets.  This one I'm really going to miss and don't think I'll be able to part with.  Yes, I do have shelves of my favourites from years gone by.  This month all my Stamper's Six cards were created with past favourites.  I'll be posting those cards tomorrow so keep tuned.

DSC02705

This card is basically a one tone card - Baja Breeze - highlighted by Basic Black and Whisper White.   Other items:  Black Hemp, Scallop Square punch, Urban Garden Designer Paper;  Stamps:  Wonderful You, Say it With Scallops (both retiring at the end of this month)

If you don't want to miss these super sets place an order before the end of June.  Email me Linda@StampersPad.com or place your order on line here

Sun Fun

Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango and Kiwi Kiss say Summer to me.  Knowing these colours will be retiring at the end of this month I just had to play with them today.

DSC02691

After creating this sunny card I'm inspired to make a scrap page with the same combination of colours and the "Life's a Breeze" stamp set.  If you like this very seasonal set you've got to order it before the end of June when it retires.  The In-Colours that I used in this card retire this month too.   I'll miss them but luckily I have a small, secret stash so I can play with them when I wish.

E-mail me, linda@stampersPad.com if you wish to place an order for items above or order right now on-line by clicking here.

Hope you have a sunny weekend wherever you are.

Thanks for stopping by.
